Brother Alexander (AJ) Williams, Jr. is a senior at the University of Illinois Chicago majoring in Computer Science. Over the past six summers he has honed his professional skills as a software engineering intern at State Farm—learning collaborative problem-solving, client communication, and project management in a fast-paced corporate environment. In addition to his industry experience, Brother Williams has served as a Calculus Undergraduate Teaching Assistant at UIC, where he refined his ability to translate complex concepts into accessible lessons and support diverse cohorts of learners, demonstrating both patience and pedagogical skill.
Within Alpha Phi Alpha, Brother Williams laid the groundwork for strategic growth as President of Theta Chapter (2024–2025), served as the Immediate Past Illinois District Assistant Chief of Staff (2024–2025), and now leads the college brothers across the state as Illinois Assistant District Director. In this capacity, he chairs the Regional Membership Development Committee—driving efforts to recruit and retain new brothers—the Regional Think Tank—spearheading contemporary discussions about the state of the fraternity—and the District Strategic Planning Committee—shaping the long-term vision for Illinois chapters. Backed by over 650 hours of community service, including volunteering as a scout player for UIC’s women’s basketball team, he brings to the fraternity a powerful combination of leadership, meticulous event coordination, and a passion for mentorship that will deepen our membership, strengthen our programs, and amplify our impact across campus and beyond. He has been honored as Illinois District College Brother of the Year and has received numerous awards recognizing his community service and engagement initiatives; this brother embodies the spirit of servant-leadership.
